Foo Fighters announce some tour dates for 2012 :
Rock band Foo Fighters, fronted by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, added a handful of US gigs to its forthcoming tour in support of the LP Wasting Light. The band will tour the US with Motörhead in May before setting off for the UK and Europe this summer.

On Tuesday, March 16, a full-length documentary about the band titled Foo Fighters: Back and Forth, directed by James Moll, will premiere at Austin's South by Southwest Festival. Click on the link below to view a trailer of the film.

Wasting Light is the band's seventh full-length LP and is produced by Nirvana producer Butch Vig. The album is set to drop on April 11 in the UK and April 12 in the US. The single "Rope" released on March 1 and reached number one in the US.

Foo Fighters will follow up the release of Wasting Light with a limited-edition covers album dubbed Medium Rare on Record Store Day, April 16. More than 1,000 stores on four continents are set to mark Record Store Day, an annual celebration of independent record stores, through events and special promotions.

Foo Fighters Announce 2012 Tour Dates, Limited Shows with Motorhead :
After long demand, we are happy to announce that Foo Fighters has announced their first North America 2012 Tour Dates. The Foo Fighters have released the beginnnig of their 2012 tour dates and they begin in May at the BOK Center in Tulsa and go all the way through August. Their tour will take them through the US, The UK, Germany, Austria, Ireland and other countries. Some of the tour dates will have Motorhead as a special guest. Who would have thought you'd ever see Motorhead at a concert that's part of the Foo Fighters tour. The Foo Fighters will also be releasing their documentary titled 'Back and Forth'; look for it soon. Foo Fighters Announce First 2012 Tour Dates, Tease About New Album :
While the Foo Fighters have been tweeting and Facebooking mini updates from Studio 606 as they record their next album, today frontman Dave Grohl went on Zane Lowe’s program on BBC Radio 1 to give a few firmer updates.

First, the Foo Fighters will be playing two shows at the Milton Keynes Bowl in July 2012. Supporting them on these dates will be Scottish alternative act Biffy Clyro, plus Death Cab for Cutie and Jimmy Eat World on one date each. These are the only known dates for the Foo Fighters in 2012, but somehow I doubt Dave Grohl, who seemingly never sleeps while there is rock n’ roll to be made, will be content with just two shows next year. Hell, as he put it, “2012, you’re not gonna be able to get us out of your hair.”

While on the show, Grohl also teased a few tidbits about the Foo Fighters seventh studio album, the follow-up to 2007′s brilliant Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace. According to Grohl, this new album will be the rockiest Foo album yet, featuring “no acoustic guitars”. That said, it will feature all manner of special guests, notably Grohl’s former bandmate from Nirvana Krist Novoselic on at least one song, as well as Husker Dü frontman Bob Mould on a song Grohl referred to as “Dear Rosemary”.

This is all fairly light information, and Grohl said only about 7 of the album’s rumored 14 songs are finished. But it’s still the most concrete news we’ve heard from the Foo Fighters in a couple years, which is more than enough to warrant some excitement.

During the last dark days of Nirvana in 1994, tapes of Dave Grohl's solo demos circulated among alt-rock royalty. Greg Dulli commented positively about them in more than one place, but few suspected that these homemade tapes would launch one of the biggest modern rock bands of the post-grunge era. As it turns out, that’s exactly what Grohl’s Foo Fighters became, perhaps the one band of the alt-rock revolution to enjoy continual success on the charts and on the road without a dip in popularity.
